Last week I didn't get around to posting my picks, and thank god I didn't. Almost every team I wanted to bet not only didn't cover, but damn near lost outright. All except for Notre Dame, and Pitt. Notre Dame still can't beat anybody with a winning record, and Wannie is HOT!! There aren't a lot of great games this weekend, but there are still 5 games that I am picking.
For the season we are 19-14-1, because Illinois pushed 2 weeks ago against Iowa.
Northwestern (+4) @ Michigan - I don't really think that Northwestern is that good, but just because Michigan won one game doesn't mean that still aren't terrible. Don't forget folks, this is the same team that lost to Toledo at home. Northwestern will go with both QB's this week, which I think will help them out. They will still find a way to run the ball and Michigan will shit the bed on offense like usual. They did score 29 points against Minnesota, but the Gophers lost their entire offense when Eric Decker got hurt, so Michigan got good field position all game. That led to 5 Michigan field goals, 3 within 35 yards, which means that Michigan's red zone offense is horrible.
Texas (-13.5) @ Kansas - If Texas has any shot of going to the National Championship game, they need 2 things to happen. They need to win out, and they need Oklahoma to beat Texas Tech, yet somehow still stay ahead of Oklahoma in the BCS rankings. In order to do that they need some really impressive showings. Beat the hell out of Kansas and they might move ahead of Oklahoma in the coaches poll. By the way, how stupid are coaches? Texas and Oklahoma have the same record, Texas' only loss is to #2 Texas Tech. Oklahoma's only loss it to Texas. How the shit is Oklahoma ahead of Texas in the coaches poll? Anyway, Texas will win big to get style points from the idiot coaches.
Mississippi St (+22) @ Alabama - The only teams that Alabama has beaten by more than 20 points are Western Kentucky, Arkansas, and Arkansas State. Mississippi State has hung in there against some tough opponents, like Auburn, Vanderbilt, LSU, and Kentucky. I see Alabama winning, but I don't see them winning by more than 3 touchdowns. If the hadn't gotten their asses kicked by Tennessee 2 weeks ago, I would say they are a lock to cover, but to convince you, Alabama hasn't scored an offensive touchdown against MSU since 2004.
Tulsa (-4) @ Houston - This game will be fun as hell to watch if you like offense. Houston averages 38 points a game, while Tulsa averages 52. It will be a shoot-out, but I feel that Tulsa wins. They lost to Arkansas last week, and it ruined their perfect season, but they can still win the Conference USA title and play in the Liberty Bowl, which pays them more than any other bowl they can play in. Remember people, college football still boils down to money. If you are interested the over/under on this game is 79.
UCLA (-7) @ Washington - Washington is not good at all, which sucks because I really did want Ty Willingham to do well there, but they lost their QB early, and then everything else went to hell. UCLA on the other hand started out great with what seemed like a shocking win against Tennessee, well that turned out to be just another win as Tennessee has gone to shit also. Everyone is blowing out Washington, and I think they have basically just given up now that Willingham has been fired. UCLA should cover this even though they don't have a QB either.
Some Side Notes:
I really wish Eric Decker was playing against Wisconsin. His is out with an ankle sprain, and everyone on Wisconsin is upset. Everyone, including the cheerleaders wanted a shot to light his ass up. The reason? Last year in the game against Wisconsin, Decker punched one of Wisco's DB's right in the balls! He was on the ground, the DB was above him, so Decker just clocked him. It was blatant, and the replay was clear. Apparently the Big Ten has destroyed all evidence because I can't find it anywhere, but I remember watching it last year, and it was ridiculous. People should be allowed to take a cheap shot on him at least once a game for doing that. Not in the nuts, because obviously only pansies do that, but a nice shot in the back or late hit on the sidelines. Minnesota is just a dirty team. They took shots at Juice out of bounds, and the roided up guy from "The Program" took a swing at Benn (without getting suspended mind you). If this spread wasn't 14 I would have taken it. I'm am really gonna love watching their season go down the drain.
Why are fired coaches still coaching? From the coaches standpoint, doesn't it suck to come to work everyday? What can you possibly gain from still coaching? I can understand the bond between a coach and his players, but the players have to let the coach leave, for his sake right? I couldn't do it. I wouldn't be able to talk to the people that fired me on a daily basis. That dynamic has to be like Dr. Cox and Dr. Kelso from Scrubs. They employer says hello, and the employee tells him to blow it out his ass.
From the University standpoint, if you think this person is doing such a terrible job that they have to be fired at that moment, wouldn't you want someone to come in right away and get started fixing the situation. I mean the earlier the replacement can start implementing his system and evaluating his team the better right. The biggest thing though is recruiting! I really doubt that Ty Willingham is going into living rooms right now and selling Washington to kids and parents. And if he actually is, what the shit can he say? "Well, I won't be there next year, but I'm sure the son of a bitching bastards that fired me, and then asked me to keep working for 2 months, will hire someone great. I'm sure you will fit into their system." Stupid!
Everyone who reads this needs to talk to all of their friends and tell them to pray to god that Utah loses! They are the biggest fraud in college football right now, and if they make a BCS game, it will be another horrible bowl. I have watched them squeak out 3 games now that either A) they had no business winning, or B) should have beat the ever-loving shit out of the team. Oklahoma ruined college football when they let Boise State beat them. It gave legitimacy to all of these garbage teams from non-BCS conferences. One fluke, bullshit game, and now we have to listen to people whine, bitch and moan about how these guys should get a title shot. Not one of these schools will win a BCS game this year. And yes, I know that the Big East gets a team in the BCS and I still don't give a shit. Not one of the Utah/BSU/Tulsa/TCU/BYU teams will win a BCS bowl game, nor should they, Know your place!
