Every year college basketball and ESPN have Jimmy V week, which is used to raise money for cancer research. Every year in between the games that are played at Madison Square Garden during the Jimmy V classic, they play the speech that JIm Valvano gave during the 1993 ESPY's. This speech pretty much damn near brings me to tears every year, even though I have seen it now probably 20 times. It is amazing, and one of the greatest motivational speeches I have ever heard. No matter what you do, this speech will touch you in some aspect of your life. The great thing about this is that since the Jimmy V foundation has started they have raised 80 million dollars. Also Jimmy's daughter is a breast cancer survivor.

Here is his speech:
No matter what you think of Dick Vitale as an announcer, he has basically devoted the rest of his life to make sure that people don't forget about his best friend Jim Valvano, and also to make sure that his dream of a cure for cancer becomes a reality. Every year listening to him talk about Jim and all of the great things that he has accomplished by creating the Jimmy V foundation makes me forget about all of the ACC and Duke love. Not too many people who have a forum like Vitale have would even consider using it for something so unbelievably selfless, and for that he should be commended.
