If we had OUR playoff...

You may recall that a little while ago that we gave our recommendation for a playoff system. Well, after some thinking, I would like to revise my system to the following:

Teams Included in the Playoff (12 Teams)
  1. BCS School Conference Champions chosen by whatever system the Conference chooses, so this year those schools would be: Penn State, Oklahoma, USC, Florida, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech.
  2. The top two rated non-BCS conference champions, which would be: Utah & Boise State
  3. The top four remaining BCS rated teams, which would be: Texas, Alabama, Texas Tech, Ohio State

How the Seedings Would be Determined

  1. The top 6 seeds would be the BCS Conference Champions: 1. Oklahoma, 2. Florida, 3. USC, 4. Penn State, 5. Cincinnati, 6. Virginia Tech.
  2. The remaining 6 teams would be seeded according to the final BCS standings: 7. Texas, 8. Alabama, 9. Utah, 10. Texas Tech, 11. Boise State, 12. Ohio State

What this Would Look Like in Round 1

  1. Oklahoma would have a bye in week one, then play the winner of 11. Boise State v. 12. Ohio State
  2. Florida would have a bye in week one, then play the winner of 9. Utah v. 10. Texas Tech
  3. USC would have a bye in week one, then play the winner of 7. Texas v. 8. Alabama
  4. Penn State would have a bye in week one, then play the winner of 5. Cincinnati v. 6. Virginia Tech

What this Would Look Like in Round 2 (Projections)

  1. Oklahoma v. Ohio State
  2. Florida v. Texas Tech
  3. USC v. Texas
  4. Penn State v. Virginia Tech

Round 3 (Projections)

  1. Oklahoma v. Penn State
  2. Florida v. Texas

Championship (Projection)

OKLAHOMA OVER TEXAS in what should have been the Big 12 Championship this year.

Now, I don't know if anyone reading this is either for or against a playoff, but go through those matchups, and think about how great it would be to watch those games over the course of the Christmas Holiday. Every weekend would have marquis games, and you can bet that beers would flow, and good times would be had. IMPLEMENT THIS NOW!!!
